If you've been using Framer for a while, you know how much time components save you. But have you ever thought about selling your own components and earning passive income?
In this post, I'll walk you through step by step how to ship your first component on the Framer Marketplace.

Why sell on the Framer Marketplace?

  • Passive income: build once, sell as many times as you want.

  • Visibility: Framer surfaces top components straight to its community.

  • Authority: selling a component is also proof of your Framer design and dev chops.

Step 1 - Pick your component idea

Don't scatter your shots. The goal is to build one useful component that solves a concrete problem:

  • A slider optimized for mobile

  • A simple pricing estimator

  • A unique animation component (scroll, 3D, parallax…)

💡 Tip - Get inspired by Marketplace best-sellers (here are my latest drops):

Step 2 - Build your component in Framer

  1. Open an empty Framer project.

  2. Build your component (code or no-code).

  3. Make sure it's 100% responsive and works in light/dark mode.

  4. Test it across multiple projects to confirm it works everywhere.

Step 3 - Nail the presentation

A good component doesn't sell on features alone — image matters:

  • Give it a clear, memorable name.

  • Design an eye-catching preview visual.

  • Write a simple description that explains the use case and benefits.

Framer doesn't handle payments directly. You plug in a third-party platform like:

🔹 Framer gives you a field to paste your purchase link on the product page.

Step 4 - Publish on the Framer Marketplace

  1. Head to your Framer Dashboard

  2. Click New Component

  3. Fill in: name, description, images, video, purchase link

  4. Add tags for discovery (e.g. "slider", "gallery", "SaaS")

  5. Submit for review

⏳ Review usually takes 48-72h, depending on the component type.

Step 5 - Promote it

The Marketplace is a starting line, not a finish line.

  • Share your component on Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Product Hunt…

  • Record a short video tutorial showing how to use it.

  • Link to your component from your other Framer projects.

  • Drop it in Framer communities: Framer Community Forum

⚠️ The submission statuses

When you submit your plugin or component, Framer assigns a status:

  1. In Review 🟣
Your plugin is being evaluated by the Framer team.
Average wait: 48 to 72 hours.

  2. Needs Changes 🟡
Framer flagged things to fix (bug, description, visuals, etc.).
You get an email detailing the required fixes.
➡ After your edits, resubmit for review.

  3. Ready to Publish 🟢
Your plugin is approved and ready to ship, but it's on you to hit Publish to make it visible on the Marketplace.

  4. Published
Your plugin is live and visible to everyone.
You can ship updates anytime by submitting a new version.

  5. Rejected
Your plugin doesn't meet Framer's terms.
In that case, there's nothing more to do: it can't be published on the Marketplace until it meets the official guidelines.

A real-world win

When I launched my Shadow Follower on the Marketplace, I got my first downloads within hours just by sharing a video preview on Twitter and the Framer Community Forum. Word of mouth did the rest.

The keys to making it work

  • Stay simple: a component must be readable in 5 seconds.

  • Put yourself in the end user's shoes.

  • Plan regular updates to keep your component in sync with Framer changes.

Wrap-up

Selling on the Framer Marketplace is open to everyone. You don't need to build a technical monster: a simple, useful, well-presented component can already find its audience.

So open Framer, prep your first component… and ship it! 🚀

FAQ

Do I need to code to sell a component on Framer?
Not necessarily. You can build components fully no-code in Framer, but for more advanced features (like a dynamic plugin), some React/JavaScript helps.
What's the typical price of a component on the Marketplace?
Simple components usually sell between €10 and €40, while more advanced or niche ones can go past €100. The key is real added value.
Does Framer take a cut of my sales?
No. The Marketplace lets you list your component, but payment runs through your own third-party platform (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Paddle, etc.). That platform handles the transaction and any fees, not Framer.
